Renewal and 2 storeys addition of an Art Deco house – Bucharest

This project tries to transform a speculative operation into architecture. The intervention addresses various contradictory aspects of the design context: the simplistic understanding of the zone offered by the urban regulations, the mixture of typologies, architectural images and programs of this zone, the limits imposed by the existing structure of the old house.

The new house resulted from the average of all these aspects has somehow a dual appearance: for one hand, it is situated in counterpoint with the existing building, and on the other hand it tries a delicate integration within the body of the old house.
